Strong art in all entries for December. Sadly not one has the same strength of narrative. You are really voting on which artist you want more of and that is a tough choice.
Style V. SubstanceAll three super hero stories are well drawn and have visually interesting characters. A great story will keep the reader asking questions, attempting to figure out the story and characters, but there has to be enough story in the first place to care enough to ask questions. Villain follows the plight of the bad guy on a planet of bad guys. This could be really good, it is the kind of twist to a story that could make it interesting. How does the self absorbed villain react on a world of villains? Does he appear less villainous? Does Gregory Smallwood have some kind of twisted hero’s journey planned for this, or is this going to be 52 well drawn action sequences? Unseen Tribe asks what the capitol F is going on here? Interesting powers, cool looking heros, awesome looking bad guy, amazing job on the layout and you get the point. Well done job on the art but this need some writing help. Subsuelo has you asking a lot of questions. Why is the little girl so important? What has happened to the family of this brother and sister? Where are these superheros and villains coming from? My guess is that the girl holds some amazing power that can be used for minor good or devastating evil. All three of these entries look great and each one has the potential to be a great story. The impression I get is these will just be great art and that is half way to a great comic book. Short story writing tips here and show don’t tell here. Every month the ranking are set the first week and there is little to no movement after that. If you think the Zuda competition needs to be tweaked check here. |
